Verify X (Twitter)
X doesn’t verify by sign-in — their API costs hundreds of dollars a month, so instead you prove ownership by putting a short code in your public bio for a moment. It takes about a minute.
- Add your handle. On Edit profile, type your handle in the X row and press Save handles. Handles are letters, numbers and underscores, up to 15 characters.
- Press Verify. You’ll get a page showing your personal code, which looks like this:
- Paste it anywhere in your X bio and save. It can sit alongside your existing bio text — it doesn’t need to be on its own.
- Come back and press Verify. We read your public profile and look for the code.
- Remove the code. Once you see “verified”, you can delete it from your bio. The checkmark stays.
If it doesn’t find the code: make sure the bio change is saved and visible when you’re logged out (open your profile in a private window to check). X also blocks automated readers sometimes — if you get an error, wait a minute and try again.
Your code is permanent, so if you need to re-verify later, it’s the same one.
