Government & Law Enforcement Data Request Policy

This policy describes how SponsoredBy.io (operated by Get Sponsored LLC) handles requests from government agencies, law enforcement, and other public authorities for user data. We are committed to protecting our users’ privacy while complying with valid legal obligations.

1. We require valid legal process

We disclose user data to public authorities only when compelled by valid legal process appropriate to the request — for example, a subpoena, court order, or warrant — or where disclosure is otherwise required or permitted by applicable law. We do not grant informal or voluntary access to user data absent a lawful basis.

2. Review of legality

Every request is reviewed for legal validity, proper jurisdiction, scope, and specificity before we respond. We require requests to identify the specific data sought and the legal authority for the request.

3. Challenging unlawful or overbroad requests

We may object to, narrow, or challenge requests that are unlawful, overbroad, vague, disproportionate, or that we believe infringe our users’ rights, including through available legal channels.

4. Data minimization

Where we are required to disclose data, we disclose only the minimum information necessary to satisfy the specific, valid request. We do not volunteer additional data beyond what is lawfully compelled.

5. Documentation

We maintain records of the public-authority requests we receive, our responses, the data disclosed, the legal reasoning applied, and the personnel involved, to the extent permitted by law.

6. Notice to users

Where permitted by law and not prohibited by the legal process (e.g., a valid non-disclosure order), we make reasonable efforts to notify affected users before disclosing their data, so they may seek to protect their rights.

7. Emergency requests

In genuine emergencies involving a risk of death or serious physical harm, we may disclose limited information to the relevant authority where we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to prevent the harm, consistent with applicable law.

8. Data minimization by design

We limit the data we collect from third-party platforms (such as Meta) to what is necessary to operate the Services. For social-account verification we store only the verified handle, a verification timestamp, and (optionally) a profile-picture URL — so the data available to disclose is inherently minimal.
