Send an update to your backers

Updates are how you keep recurring backers. People cancel when they stop feeling connected to the work, not when they run out of money. This is a Max feature.

  1. Open Updates.
  2. Write a title (up to 120 characters) and a body (up to 4,000). Plain text — line breaks are kept, so it never looks broken in an inbox.
  3. Attach a video if you have one. Paste a link in Video link and it plays inside the update on your wall.
  4. Press Publish. The button tells you how many people it will email. You’ll be asked to confirm, because there is no unsend.

Who gets it

Everyone with an active monthly backing. One-time backers aren’t emailed — but every update also posts publicly to the Updates tab on your wall, so they can still read it, and so can anyone deciding whether to back you.

Two limits worth knowing: we email up to 200 backers per update, and an update can’t be edited or deleted once sent. Read it twice.
