Refunds, chargebacks & cancellation

Refunds
The creator is the merchant of record for every backing on their wall, so refunds are theirs to give, from their own Stripe dashboard. If you backed someone and something went wrong, message the creator first — they’re the only one who can issue it.
When a backing is refunded voluntarily, we return our platform fee too, so it costs the creator only Stripe’s processing fee. We may assist in resolving a dispute between a backer and a creator, but we’re not obliged to.
Chargebacks and disputes
If a backer disputes a charge with their bank, the dispute lands on the creator’s Stripe account, because that’s where the payment was made. A lost dispute is charged to the creator’s balance along with Stripe’s dispute fee, and in that case our platform fee is not returned.
You can size that exposure. Under Getting backed → Backing limits you decide the largest single backing your wall accepts, and how large a backing has to be before it’s paid by bank transfer rather than card.
Cancelling a monthly backing
Backers cancel from Sponsoring. You won’t be charged again, and the creator keeps what’s already been paid. Your plaque stays on their wall along with your history — cancelling stops future charges, it doesn’t erase past support.
Cancelling a Pro or Max plan
Creators manage their own subscription through the Stripe billing portal, linked from Settings. Cancelling keeps your wall live on the Free plan — nothing is deleted. Paid features simply stop applying: monthly backings close to new backers, any funding goal is hidden, and a custom username is released after 14 days if you don’t resubscribe.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself from Security. Any active subscriptions you hold or receive are cancelled so nobody is charged again. What happens to your data depends on whether money ever moved — the details are in Data Deletion.
