Teachable is a course platform — if you are selling a structured course, that is the machinery it exists to provide. A wall is for teaching that stays free. One difference is worth being blunt about: everything a visitor sees vouching for you on a Teachable page is copy you wrote yourself. On a wall, every name is someone who actually paid.
| SponsoredBy | Teachable | |
|---|---|---|
| What it’s for | Public sponsorship. People fund work that stays free, and get credit for it. | Building and selling online courses, with curriculum, checkout and student progress tracking. |
| Are supporters public? | Yes. Every backer gets a plaque with their name, tier and how long they’ve backed you — or stays anonymous by choice. | No. The only social proof available on a Teachable page is a testimonial block you fill in yourself — there is no verified review, student count or roster shown to visitors. |
| Who holds the money | You do. Every backing is paid into your own Stripe account; we never hold it. | Through Teachable’s own gateways on a payout schedule. Connecting your own Stripe is restricted to higher plans and carries an extra integration fee. |
| Cost | Free plan takes 10%. Pro is $29/mo and takes 5%; Max is $49/mo and takes 3%. Stripe’s processing is separate. | Plans from $39 a month, less annually. The entry plan adds a 7.5% transaction fee; higher plans advertise 0%, but that applies only when you use Teachable’s own payment gateways. Processing is charged on top and varies by card and country. |
Teachable figures were read from their own pricing page in August 2026. Pricing changes — check theirs before deciding.
You are selling a structured course and need the delivery and tracking that comes with it.
You teach in public for free, and you want the people it helped to be able to fund and credit you.
Plenty of creators run both. A wall doesn’t ask you to move anything — it’s a link you add.
A wall takes a few minutes to set up, costs nothing on the free plan, and doesn’t replace anything.
